Introduction of car-parking charges for waterfront workers by the Auckland Harbour Board was going to start a chain reaction which would hurt a lot of people by causing industrial conflict, said the president of the Auckland Waterside Workers' Union (Mr E Isbey) yesterday Parking charges would begin on June 10, the board told the union in a letter Parking has been free for workers’ ears
Mr Isbey said all waterfront organisations will meet on Tuesday and determine a policy “in the traditional way the trade union movement has of fighting a glaring injustice.”
