Service Marks End Of Christian Family Year

The . observance of Christian Family Year, organised on a worldwide basis by the Mother’s Union, will be completed locally tomorrow evening at a service in the Christchurch

Cathedral. The Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. W. A. Pyatt) will conduct the service and preach the sermon. The Mothers’ Union of the diocese of, Christchurch has chosen tomorrow also for holding a leaders’ conference

Many of the delegates to the conference will attend the closing service with their husbands and older children.

Nearly 300 delegates, representing 101 branches of the Mothers’ Union from as far afield as Waimaite, Hokitika, and Seargill, are expected to take part in the conference at St. Matthew’s Church, St. Albans

The day will begin,with a service of the Holy Communion celebrated by the Rev. Keith Bathurst. A re-examination of the aims and objects of the union, with discussions on methods of organising branch activities, making full use of committees and stimulating interest in the union’s work, will take up much of the conference agenda

The Dominion president of the union (Mrs A. K. Warren), the diocesan president (Mrs S. E. Woods), and the f

diocesan vice-president (Mrs W. W. Averill) will speak on the most effective ways in which the union can, promote Christian views of marriage and happy home life, as well as dealing with some of the problems commonly met by leaders.

Departmental heads will explain how their work fits into the general pattern of the organisation’s work.
