Labour Opposes American Plan <N 2 P A.-Reuter—CopyrtgM; WASHINGTON. June 1. The British Labour Party'* foreign affairs spokesman, Mr Patrick Gordon Walker, tried to make a case for a purely American Polaris missile surface fleet during his talks in Washington with President Kennedy and other top officials He told reporters last night, in summing up his impressions of the talks, that there was "quite a lot of military «ense*’ in the idea of a surface force of missile-carrying ships. But in his view it should be a purely American rather than a joint N A.T.O. force, manned by international crews, as the Kennedy Administration has proposed Mr Gordon Walker’s proposal was in line with the Labour Party's position that •he United States should retain sole possession of Western nuclear power
