SYDNEY, May 31.
The veteran New Zealand Rugby League hooker, R. J. Butterfield, will probably be omitted from the Kiwis’ match against Newcastle tomorrow and could be a doubtful starter for the first test against Australia next Saturday. Butterfield is the first injured player in the Kiwi party and will have an X-ray examination of his ribs.
Butterfield was injured during the match against Riverma last Wednesday. It is thought he might have torn a cartilage tn his side or else has cracked or broken ribs. He missed training yester-day-the firs- New Zealand player to do sr on this tour Butterfield will be replaced by the former Canterbury hooket, G C. Blackier against Newcastle It will be interesting to see how Blackier tares in the test pack. In his only match so far be was out-hooked. 13-16 playing in the second string pack With H. K. Emery and S K Edwards each side of him. Blackier could well win a lion's share of the ballsomething that the Kiwis
nave not been able to do while in Australia. The New Zealand team will probably be: J E. Fagan; F White, B T Reidy R. K Griffiths. R W Bailey, J D Ellwood; W L Snowden; H R. Sii.el; R. C Ackland. B S I •»; Edwards, Emery. Blackier
