Apprentices’ Regulations
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON. May 30.
New apprentices’ regulations were gazetted tonight.
The Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) has commented in a statement that the original regulations were made in 1949 and experience had shown the need for some rewriting, particularly of the regulation prescribing the procedure for appeals to the Court of Arbitration or a Magistrate’s Court. Mr Shand said minor alterations were necessitated by the Apprentices’ Amendment Act. 1961. Authorities concerned with the education of apprentices were now given the right to nominate a person conversant with technical education to a local apprenticeship committee.
