R. D Clarke. the Canterbury Chess Club's 1961 champion, drew level with G V. Sumner, last year's runner-up at the head of the senior tournament when Clarke beat N. M Cooper Clarke and Sumner each have four points in five fames In the nineround tournament. What could be the deciding game of the tournament, however the game between these two players, was adjourned last week with Sumner in a strong position.
