Boxing D. Murphy Returns From Australia

Dion Murphy, the Christchurch light-weight professional boxer, arrived back in Christchurch from Australia last evening. In Australia he had three bouts, winning them all.

Murphy turned professional last year, and won one bout in the North Island before going to Australia. He was a most promising amateur boxer, scientific and always ready to attack. It is hoped that he will fight for the Canterbury Boxing Association this season. Some excellent amateur preliminaries for the first professional bout of the season, to be held on Thursday, have been arranged. M. Emerson (Oamaru). the New Zealand light heavy-weight champion, will fight T. O’Donnell (Christchurch). Other bouts are: A. O’Donnell v. G. Bennett, R. Auld v. E. Brand, P. Reardon v. B. Moore, D. Pope v. L. Small. A. Emerson v. D. Neylon, and D. Pope v. R. Carstairs.
