Women’s Basketball REBELS LOSE FORM

Holy Trinity A In Lead

The results of the senior games played in the third round of the Women's Indoor Basketball Association's competition were consistent with the trend of play seen so far this season. Rebels A has failed to display the form which enabled it to win the competition for the last three seasons, and was very lucky to beat Holy Trinity B Poor ball control and lack of understanding while on attack have lost it many scoring opportunities and, unless great improvement is shown. It will be lucky to finish in the top three in the competition. Holy Trinity B worked hard on defence, with N Tregonlng playing her usual sound game. Rex A was far superior to Ranglora and dominated all phases of play. The inability of the Ranglora players to move to meet their passes was emphasised by the close guarding maintained by Rex throughout the game. H. Fellowet intercepted repeatedly and combined well with centre C. O’Donnell, and forward B. Taylor to score many points. On defence, J. Gaskell and B Taylor guarded well and forced Ranglora to burry its shots at goal. Rex built up a good lead in the first half, and steady nlay on attack allowed it to keep a 10-point lead throughout. Only in the last few minutes of the game was Ranglora seen to advantage, when play brightened up after better passing allowed the team to net two quick goals. The other senior game, between Teachers’ College and University, resulted In a win for the college by default. The competition leader. Holy Trinity A. which has impressed with some good displays to date, drew the bye. Results were;— A Grade —Rebels A U. Holy Trinity B 4; Rex A 28. Ranglora 10
