Bunk-House On Ruapehu
(N.Z. Press Association) TOKAANU, May 12. It was still hoped to erect low-level cheap accommodation in Tongariro National Park before the winter set in, the Park Board was told at Tokaanu yesterday. The chairman (Mr N. S. Coad) said the company concerned envisaged a building on Mount Ruapehu with 10 rooms, four bunks to a room, hopsed in some building. The company is expected to be a private one known as Volcano Village, Ltd., with an initial capital of £lO.OBO.
Rail Strike Off.— After three days of talks with the head of British Railways (Dr. Richard Beeching), the executive of the National Union of Railwaymen unanimously decided to-day to call off the proposed national rail strike.—London, May 9.
