N.Z. Pianist At Festival i (London Correspondent] LONDON. April 30. The gold medal for the outstanding entrant In the pianoforte section of the annual Hastings (England) Musical estival recently was won by New Zealander—Miss MaryScott. aged 24. of Dunedin, a student at the Royal Academy of Music. London Miss Scott, a daughter of Mrs R. J. Scott, of Maori Hill .■»unedin. also won the cup fo the best aggregate over three competitions Her other first prizes were for the Mozart and the open selection. She was second, only a mark behind, in the concerto and in the Bach and Beethoven selections. She jocularly conceded that she felt a little jaded at the completion of the festival, for in the one day she presented ! seven pieces in two different j halls. “I found it rather a I strain changing from one I piece to another.” she said. • The pieces which won Miss i Scott her gold medal we-e!
