HEREFORD SALES
250gns Paid For Bull The first show and sale of Nelson Hereford breeders was held at the Tapawera saleyards last week. The top price of the sale was 250 guineas, paid by Mr A. Leov, of Blenheim, for the champion bull, Bushend Gangway, belonging to Mr A. F. Denton. Eleven 18-month-old bulls averaged 146 j guineas, while three bull calves sold for 60, 70, and 100 guineas. Mr R. H. Mead, of the Wai It i stud, offered 22 females with six 18-month heifers selling at 50 to 70 guineas, and averaging 55 guineas, nine heifer calves making from 37J to 56 guineas, and averaging 43 J guineas, and seven horned cows in calf to polled bulls ranged from 45 to 75 guineas, and averaged 55 guineas. The judge, Mr J. Irvine, of Palmerston North, commented on the excellent quality of the yarding and considered it to be well up to * the standard offered in any part of the country.
