Carew helped the West Indies to 'score 230 for three before the close of play against Lancashire at Old Trafford on Satur"o vernight rain saturated the ground and held up play until after lunch. He and Carew put on 104 for the second wicket. Carew found another useful partner in B. Butcher (52 not out) and the pair put on 79 for the third wicket before Carew was out just before the close.
