Scorpion Wins First Race (N.Z. Press Assoctation) ROTORUA, May 12. G. Smale, of Auckland, won the first of seven raoe-s in the New Zealand Flying Putcliman yachtfog championships on Lake Rotorua today, Smale and nia forward hand, K. Lusty (Scorpion) beat J. Bilger and H. Fisher (Calpreta) by Imin 10*ec. Scorpion took an early lead and was never seriously challenged. although Calpreta caught up by a minute on the last two-mite leg. The leading contenders. I. Pryde and J. Hansen (Taurus), finished eighth. Nineteen yachts competed Results were— Scorpion (G. Smale—K. Lusty, Auckland), 1:11312. 1; Calpreta (J. Piicher—H. Fisher.
