KEG BLAST KILLS MAN

Explosion At Dance (N.Z. Press Association) WANGANUI, May 12. A young man was killed at a private dance in the Marton Memorial Hall on Saturday night when a keg of beer exploded in his face. He was: Richard Duncan Simpson, aged 21, single of Colemans road. Marton. He suffered head injuries and died instantly. Mr Simpson was standing near the 18-gallon, cast aluminium keg when the bottom blew out. The explosion blew a hole in the floor. The keg blew-off the floor with the blast and drove through the ceiling of the hall. It made a gaping hole about 3ft across. Then it crashed back to the dance floor.
