Rebel Students Set Up New Free State

AUCKLAND. May 10. The Grand Duchy of Nutismberg. a new free State, was set up in Auckland this morning in the grounds of Auckland University. Message® advising the new move have been sent to Pres.dent Kennedy and United Nations Messages were also sent to Mr Khrushchev, United Nations Secretary-General, U Thant, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake), the Mayor of Auckland (Mr D. M. Robinson), and the Auckland University Registrar (Mr J. A. S. Krknese). This afternoon no replies had been received from any of the foreign personalities who were asked for support. Early arrivals at the university this morning after yesterday's capping procession found entrances all barricaded. Visas for entry were given in exchange for a donation to toe building fund. By 10 a.m. one gate had collected £l5.
A surplus armoured car from the parade yesterday was at the main entrance and khaki uniformed students crowded the check point. Count Appointed At 10 a_m. Count David of Nutzemfcerg was appointed He told the crowd the revolt had been prompted by the present “higher education” policy. His speech was interrupted by counter-revolutionaries. Shots were fired from the geology department. A flour bomb was thrown from the battlements. Masked men then killed the count.
