Rise Of 6.6 p.c. In Value

New Zealand factories in 1961-62 produced goods worth £ 806.5 m, says the Department of Statistics. This was 6.6 per cent more than the 1960-61 value. There were 6233 more persons employed. £llm more was paid in salaries and wages, and 1.5 m hours more overtime was worked.

The volume of output was 5.1 per cent, more than that of the previous year.

There were 27.8 m hours of overtime. compared with 26.3 m hours in 1960-61. Average overtime worked by all factory wage-earners was 216 hours for males and 55 hours for females. The previous year’s figures were 211 hours and 53 hours.
