Sunday Court For Seamen

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 7. A special sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held in Lower Hutt on Sunday before Mr J. F. Keane, S.M., to hear charges of car conversion against five seamen. The master of the ship, a British taiiker, was tender a penalty clause, which required the vessel to leave the wharf at a certain time. While the five were pleading guilty to the offence, the ship was moved from, the wharf into the stream to wait for the seamen to be brought back. Each was convicted and fined £l5, with costs of £1 10s, and returned to the ship.
