A.M.P. Investment Income
The A.M.P. Society’s income from investments during 1962 showed an increase of 14.65 per cent, on the year 1961.
The gross rate of interest on funds was £5 19s 5d per cent, compared with £5 14s 7d per cent, in the previous year.
These figures were announced yesterday by Mr H M. Oollie, manager for New Zealand, in releasing the society’s accounts for the year ended December 31, 1962. Total assets increased from £A55Om in 1961 to £A6O2m in 1962. The balance sheet shows £A25m (£N.Z.2Om> in New Zealand Government Stock, an increase of 20 per cent, over the holding at the end of 1961. Mr Collie said that A.M.P.’s total funds invested in New Zealand would be in excess of £Al3otm (£ N.Z.104m).
V.K. BUTTER IMPORTS Drop In First Quarter Imports of butter into the United Kingdom in the three months ended March 31 this year totalled 106.526 tons. This is a drop of 14,078 tons (11.7 per cent.) from the comparable 1962 figure, or 17389 ' tons (14.0 per cent.) from the comparable 1961 figure. These figures are given in the quarterly bulletin issued by A. J. Mills and Company, Ltd, Tooley street merchants Imports of butter from New Zealand rose from 44,672 tons (36.1 per cent, of the total) in 1961 to 46.811 tons (38.8 per cent.) in 1962 and 46,937 tons (44.1 per cent.) this year. Cheese Imports Up Total imports of cheese by the United Kingdom rose from 35,017 tons in the first three months of 1961 to 38,998 tons in 1962 and 40,812 tons in 1963. Imports from New Zealand rose from 20,917 tons (597 per cent, of the total) in 1961 to 24.606 tons (63.1 per cent.) in 1962 and 25.283 tons (62.0 per cent.) in 1963.
