AUCKLAND, May 2.

People who stole detonators and explosives from quarries must expect severe sentences. Mr F. McCarthy, S.M., said in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court today. He gaoled Selwyn Dalton Knox, a 24-yeair-old driver, for three years after he pleaded guilty to theft.

The sentence will be served concurrently with a two years and a half. term Knox was given on Monday for burglary. Knox yesterday admitted stealing 100 sticks of gelignite, 1370 electric detonators, 800 ordinary detonators and three coils of fuse from an Otahuhu quarry.
