TROTTING Adios Heather Picked For Hutt Park Meeting

Adios Heather is expected to add to the fine record this season at Hutt Park Raceway of horses owned by Mr R. A. McKenzie, of Wellington, when she contests the Pope Handicap tomorrow night. The Pope Handicap is the main event and first leg of the double on the first night of the Wellington Trotting Club’s autumn meeting.

Adios Heather resumed racing at Addington last Saturday after a spell since November 17. She heralded an early win when she finished boldly for second to the speedy Trade Fair in the Au Revoir Handicap.

Adios Heather is certain to Show marked improvement as a result of last week’s race. She will be set a difficult task from 12 yards in this big field, but if she begins as well as she did at Addington, she should be handily placed all the way. The Belfast trainer. C. S. Donald, w>ho will leave shortly for New York, where he will supervise the final training of Falsehood for the international pacing series at Yonkers Raceway next month, will parade two capable pacers, Oushie Doo and Johnny Dean. Cushie Doo last Saturday finished a useful third to Kyle View and Deep Lead in the two-mile Members’ Handicap. The shorter distance in this race should suit her better and she could be hardest for Adios Heather to beat. Johnny Dean, a winner at Hutt Park earlier in the season, finished a close seventh in Cushie Doo’s race

last week at Addington. He looks to be returning to form and could surprise. Womhaggi. a stylish winner earlier at the meeting, lost her chance when she broke badly at the start of the Members’ Handicap last Saturday. That lapse can be overlooked when assessing her prospects in this field. Her form in the last four mon tits has been outstanding and from No. 1 at the barrier she should be hard to head.

Gipsy Hanover could be the pick of the North Island horses in the race. She has compiled an outstanding re-

cord of five wins and five placings from 12 starts this season. She was a good second to Foretell at the Thames meeting on Miarch 23 at her most recent start. The opposition in this race will be little stronger than she encountered at Auckland and she should make another bold showing. Won Last Week Rapine was a decisive winner at the Manawatu meeting last week and if he races as generously in this big field, he could add interest to the finish. Trespasser and Cavan are two other place prospects from the north down to start from the limit, but they might find Chief Hall a handful Chief Hall, on 12 yards, raced most consistently earlier in the season and his showings at Hawera from awkward marks suggest that he is returning to his best. Dandy Andy, on 24 yards,

has shown to advantage in stronger fields than this one, but his handicap might be too much for him.

King Clovis could follow up two third placings with a win in the second leg of the double, the Visitors’ Handicap. King Clovis made up a lot Of ground to finish third to Pharaoh and Stand In in a sprint at Methven on March 23 at his most recent start. He could be much fresher than some horses which have been raced extensively over the week-end and he should show to advantage. Parados finished strongly for fourth behind Enrich, Dominica and King Clovis in the Cheviot Cup last month at his last start. Very little improvement would be needed for him to take pant in the' finish. Trywyn failed in the Waikouaiti Cup, but her form before that had been sound. One mile and a half on the turning track at Hutt Park should suit her. Anama, which met trouble in the Waikouaiti Cup, Last Cry, Promotion. Burns Rival and Affiliate should be other prospects in a fairly open field.
