MANAWATU AUCTION
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NTH., April 14. The English-bred stallion Llanstephan was sold at auction at the Manawatu Annual Thoroughbred Sale held at Awapuni. Llanstephan, which sired an Auckland Cup winner. Ruato, was bought for 2150 guineas by Mr G. S. Walton, who was acting on behalf of the South Island studmaster. Mr W. Grant, of Fairlie. Llanstephan attracted brisk bidding and was the first horse sold. None of the other prices came near to the price paid for him. Wyandank, another stallion offered for sale, was passed In at 325 guineas. Prices throughout the day were not large. The Final Court filly, Turps, offered by Mr T. H Knowles, brought 400 guineas, and Red Rhythm, offered by Mr J. R. Struthers, of Hastings, brought the same price. There was an attendance of 500.
