LAW CONFERENCE DELEGATES

Mr Justice Herron Arrives (N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 15. One of the ‘‘elder statesmen” of Rugby in Australia, Mr Justice Herron, Chief Justice of New South Wales, arrived in Auckland by air tonight from Sydney to attend the conference of the New Zealand Law Society A former president of both his State Rugby union and the Australian union. Mr Justice Herron said that from the number of players, the quality of administration, and the strength of the clubs, Rugby had never been stronger in New South Wales. “But due to our methods of playing and the small numbers playing tn Queensland and Victoria, we cannot yet win consistently at international football,” he said. “But we live in hopes.” The spirit of co-operation between the Australian and New Zealand unions had never been stronger, he said. Australia was now paying back for the generous help and hospitality extended it by New Zealand. Mr Justice Herron, together with other Australian delegates to the conference, was welcomed by Mr E. D. Blundell, president oi the New Zealand Law Society, and Mr L. F. Moller, Auckland president of the society and conference chairman.
