Function For Mr McQueen

An “extraordinary apprenticeship meeting” will be held in Christchurch on May 10 between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The members of all local apprenticeship committees are invited to attend. This information is contained on invitations being sent out for a function to bid farewell to the retiring Commissioner of Apprentices (Mr H. C. McQueen, of Wellington). Mr McQueen has been Commissioner of Apprentices for the last 16 years. Speakers at the farewell function will be Mr D. W. Lyall, principal of the Christchurch Technical College; Mr G. W. Fairweather, of the New Zealand and local motor trade apprentices’ committees; Mr L. C. Fulford, of the New Zealand and local printing committees; Mr R. Jones, of the New Zealand and local engineering committees; and Mr F. L. Langley, of the New Zealand and local carpenters’ committees. The district superintendent of the Labour Department <Mr C. P. Collins) will make a presentation to Mr McQueen on behalf of members of all local apprenticeship committees. Mr V. E. Thomae, the chairman of the local committees, will preside at the function.
