Steeples At Riverton

The Watch, an impressive winner of the Birchwood Hazlett Memorial Steeplechase at his last start, showed that he was in top order to contest the Waiau Steeplechase at Riverton when he schooled most impressively at Wingatui this morning. Ridden by his race rider, P. J Denton, The Watch was accompanied by Sea Buoy (D. A. Canning) over a round of country at a sound pace. A winner on the flat at the Birchwood meeting. Sea Buoy is also engaged in the Waiau Steeplee. He did not jump with the same dash as his stablemate, but it was a good effort for his limited experience. ”
