Foundation’s Problems (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 9 One blind person registered with the New Zealand Foundation for the Blind every 22 hours, the chairman of the foundation trustees (Mr A Robertson) said tonight in his report to the annual meeting This was an indication of the problems the foundaton faced Sixty-seven per <*snt. of registered blind people were over 60 and their needs were as great, if not greater, than the needs of the blind child. The director of the foundation (Mr E W. Christiansen) said 15,000 volunteers were being organised to collect donations throughout New Zealand during BariUe week from July 21 to 27 One of the main problems facing the foundation was the provision of accommodation tor elderly blind people. Overhead for such projects was so high there had to be assurances that funds would be forthcoming before any new building project could be tackled.
