Marching LAST TITLES COMPLETED

Fine Display In Senior A The Midland Marching Association's annual championships met with what seems inevitable bad luck when they were held at the Lincoln Recreation Ground yesterday. The championships had been postponed in October due to bad weather and they looked like meeting the same fate yesterday. However, some good organisation saw the day’s programme fully completed. These were the last championships of the season and the bleak conditions were a sorry note on which to end. In tile Senior A grade. Downings Red Robins showed some of their best form this year and won every event possible for them to win. Metropolitan, which was beaten by a visiting team at the Canterbury centre championships, won the Senior B grade with something to spare. However, it lost to Caledonian Hussars in the display. In the Junior A grade, Motorways Royal Guards rested on their laurels a little after their fine win in the centre championships a fortnight ago and did not give as polished a performance. However, they won nearly all of their events, and Miss S. O’Connor was judged champion leader. In the Junior B grade. Allanettes avenged their defeat in the centre championships when they took the decision over

Modernage. The Midget A grade saw what was perhaps the most polished performance of the day with a fine display of marching from the South Island champions. Blue Star Taxis. It was one of their best exhibitions all season and they won by a clear 30 points. They also won all of their events, although they had to share the honours for the display with Cairns. Perfection, competing in the Midget B grade, was another team beaten by visitors at the centre championships. However, yesterday it had the edge over its opponents and registered a win.
