Front Line’s Upset
Front Line, the outsider of the field, caused a major upset when he won the Stewards' Handicap, the main race for trotters at Addington on Saturday. He paid £55 12s fid for a win and £l4 Is for a place.
Front Line, a six-year-old brother tn a champion trotter in Battle Cry. is raced by Messrs A. E. and K. M. Baxter. of Winchmore, and is trained at Kerrytown by J. M. Williamson, who drove him. Front Line has had five earlier starts this season, his best effort being a fourth. He has been a difficult horse to keep sound, but looked to be all right after his race on Saturday. Our Jimmy made all of the pace, with Front Line in second place throughout. Our Jimmy shaded Front Line racing to the straight, with Control, Poupette, Dianthus Girl. Our Own. Free Return. Flaming Way. and Harbour Light, which broke, handy.
Front Line. Our Jimmy, and Control had a great struggle over the final furlong, with Front Line doing best to win by a short length. Our Jimmy held on tor second, a noee in front of Control, with Flaming Way. which had trouble obtaining a run on the inner, a short length back fourth. Poupette was only a head away, with half a length to Free Return, which showed speed after breaking early. Spinster Scott, Dark Lorene, Dianthus Girt and Our Own were close up. clear of Reprimand. Harbour Light, Scotleigh. Control, Reprimand, Free Return, and Chances Are lost ground early. Mighty Hanover broke and checked Spark Gap near the half-mile.
