No Action On Objection
Payment of dividends on the New Zealand Welcome Stakes at Addington on -Saturday was held up briefly while an inquiry was held into an objection against the winner, Peerswick. The objection alleged interference to La Scala, driven by M. Holmes, with six furlongs and a half to run. It was dismissed. Peerswick was driven by his West Melton trainer, J. D. Litten. Gay Baron was declared ineligible to race at a totalizator meeting until April 13 at an inquiry into his racing manners after the Rattray Handicap. R. P. Nyhan, the driver of Lauder Scott in the Rothschild Handicap, wae questioned about the breaking of his horse. It was found that Ahumai broke when free of interference. As a result Lauder Scott’s sulky wheel touched the sulky of Ahumai causing Lauder Scott to break. J. A Carmichael was questioned about the breaking of Sirrah in the same race. Sirrah checked Great Credit, Guineas and Stormont. Carmichael said Sirrah was pacing badly and boring in at the time. This caused him to break. No further action was taken.
