R W H Scott, aged 42 was injured at Feilding on Saturday when he saved a small boy from being trampled on by footballers Scott saw the boy wandering on to the field during a Petone-Feilding match just as play swung towards the child He raced down the touchline and as he scooped up the boy a player crashed into Scott He went to the ground still holding the boy He suffered intense pain and thought he had broken his ankle again but today it was not troubling him greatly, although his foot was sore Last year. Scott suffered a broken ankle while training a Petone team and had to use crutches for several weeks This season he is not coaching, but attended the game as one of Petone’s selectors
