Crime Does Not Pay
Sir, —Experienced people will agree with “Clean Livirg” that crime does not pay. Yet our young people are getting into trouble in increasing numbers, even those from good homes Why? First, we have released them from the fear of toe Lord, a heal toy fear of wrongdoing. Then our education methods have largely cured shyness, and we get exhibitionism. Or young folks, cooped up in towns, do not get enough healthy back-country adventure. Could that be why some adventure into evil? Both in primary school and at home, discipline, hard work, and self- 'enial are out of date. So children grow up expecting Luxury, an easy living, and every desire supplied. Confronted with rude shocks, some break down and demand, by dishonest means, what they want, be it money, sex. or possessions. What a tragedy! Fortunately this only applies to a minority.-Youra, eto., WAKE UP, NZ. March 25, Q 63.
