A Cricket Term

Sir, Those excellent coaches, Messrs Shacklock and Thomae, taught us the late cut and square out; but never was either of them heard to talk ->f a “beck cut,” which was the reason for my letter. They certainly taught us to square cut off either the front toot or back foot. Perhaps it is the forward square cut to which “Have a Go” refers. Never yet have we heard the term “back cut” from 3YA. We have been most fortunate in toe cominentarics from the station Those on toe recent third test match were really outstanding. We were given an accurate description of toe game, an interesting background to toe game and players, and a really knowledgeable account of whet toe playen were trying to achieve.—Yours, etc., GWA.Y.
