Vandals Blamed For Trouble

Unless there was an immediate improvement in die barricading and lighting of one sewer contract job the contract would be shut down. the Christchurch Drainage Board instructed

last evening The board received a report from Mr H. F. Page, the chief engineer (operation) that a recent inspection of 13 contracts showed that in meet cases precautions were mostly satisfactory end in a few cases fairly so. On three works only were the precautions not satisfactory. One of these had not been improved sufficiently after the contractor's attention had been drawn to the need. But Mr Page added that the contractor had had a lot of trouble with vandals shifting and removing his lights, and the position was now satisfactory.
