ANOTHER PLANNING OFFICER LOST

DUNEDIN. March 19. Dunedin has lost another town planning officer, Mr R. M. Tait, a South Australian appointed to the position by the Dunedin Metropolitan Regional Planning Authority less than three weeks ago, has advised he will be unable to take up the post. Mr Tait is the second officer to refuse the post in five months. The first was Mr L. S. Gillard, of Australia, who resigned early in October before taking up his position. The post became vacant in August last year when Mr C. R. Edwards, the first officer of the authority, resigned. Mr Tait resigned, ac-

cording to Mr W. P. Hartstonge, chairman of the authority, possibly because of superannuation difficulties. “After Mr Tait *m appointed. he asked one question only. This was in connexion with superannuation and we had to tell him that, at his age. It could cost a considerable sum to buy superannuation here. “It could be that this wu the important factor in Mr Tait’s decision." Mr Hartstonge said A cablegram had been sent to the other applicant, a Canadian. asking if he was still available for the post.
