First Job For Big Crane

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 19. New Zealand’s biggest floating crane, the 1300-ton Hikinui (“Big Lift”), was put to work today at Auckland. The £500.000 crane, with a lifting capacity of 100 tons, hauled out a 10-ton railway waggon chassis from the vessel Port Nelson. From the waterline to the hook of the crane is 90ft—the height of an eight-storey building.
