WELLINGTON, March 8.
Joyce Parker, aged 17, was awarded total damages of £1473 by a Supreme Court jury for the loss of the tips of two fingers. Through her guardian she had claimed £2500 general and £73 13s 6d special damages from Spincraft Ltd, Wellington, on the grounds that they failed to provide a device which automatically protected her from dangerous parts of a 15-ton press she operated.
