Programme For Secretaries ' (NJ!. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 4. The YMjCA’b of New Zealand will brine into operation thte month a pilot training scheme tor YMCA secretaries. The programme is designed to fulfil the need for more extensive preparation for YMCA. aecretariea if they are to meet the needs of youth. This year two trainees, D. Butat. of Christchurch, and B. Heyworth, of Gisborne, will study subjects related to YMCA. work. Supervision and control of the scheme Is under the national secretary, Mr G. F. Briggs. For the rest of the year, the trainees will take degree courses at Canterbury University to expend their general education. About 20 hours of field work will be undertaken each week in the Christchurch Y.MCA. when the trainees will gain practical experience. They will attend YMCA, camps in the Christ-mas-New Year period. The funds for the scheme have come from a venture by YMCA, members throughout New Zealand.
