School Without Full Heating

Pupils at Christchurch Girls’ High School may be in for a chilly winter. Work has not yet started on the alterations to the heating system and at the moment about half the school, as well as the new assembly hall, will be without heating connexions, when the beating becomes necessary about mid-April. It was an alarming situation, said the principal (Miss

P. Robinson) at a meeting of the school’s boarr 1 of governors last evening. Nothing had been heard from the Education Department since early December.

A sub-contractor had called at the school said the secretary, Mr P. J. Halligan, and it was possible tenders had been called by the department.

The board agreed to write to the department asking for urgent attention to ensure that the system operated by mid-April.
