THE THIRD CAR

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will be in the third car on all their ceremonial drives in Christchurch. This is the normal place for the Royal car, which is open or closed, according to the weather.

in the processions the first car is a Transport Department or City Council traffic department patrol ear. It is followed by a police car carrying the Commissioner of Police (Mr C. L. Spencer) and a local inspector. The Queen’s car is identified by her personal standard and coat-of-arms shield.
