“FREE FUNDS” SCHEME
Extension Of Licences (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 15, “No-remittance import licences issued for the 196263 licensing period under the ‘free funds’ scheme will remain valid for the 1963-64 period and funds already approved by the Reserve Bank will be available for licence issue during the 1963-64 period.” said the Minister of Customs (Mr Shelton) in a statement issued today. “At this stage eligible funds to the exiterat of about £1350,000 remain uncommitted and it appears unlikely that a large proportion of these funds will be used to obtain licences in time to effect importation prior to the end of the 1962-63 period," said Mr Shelton. Opportunity Given “In order to give importers an opportunity to utilise the full amount approved, J have decided that eligible funds may be used to obtain licences for the period July 1, 1963, to June 30, 1964."
