Increases Urged

The Chief of the Malayan Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant-General Sir Rodney Moore, said today that Malaya had to spend a “great deal more” to expand her Army, Navy and Air Force because of the attitude of “Certain People.” The English - language “Straits Times” said today: “Malaya does not yet regard Indonesia as a mortal enemy.
even though Dr. Subandrio spews forth with increasing venom and frequency the language of the battlefield. “But military preparedness there must be, and it seems almost inevitable that part of the price will have to be paid at the expense of economic and social development.”
