Railwayman's Thefts

(NJS. Press Association) TAURANGA, February 13. A Te Puke railway traffic assistant was sentenced to 18 months* imprisonment on 17 charges of theft as a servant and one each of forgery and uttering when he appeared for sentence before Mr G, J. Donne, SJd,, in the Magistrate’s Court at Tauranga today. Malcolm Arthur William Howe, aged 40, married, admitted all the charges which related to the theft of goods valued at £393 from Te Puke railway station. Bridge Traffic,—lt took only 46 days for the last million vehicles to cross Auckland’s Harbour Bridge. Since the opening in May, 1959, 22,000,000 vehicles passed over the bridge up to last Sunday,—(P.A.)
