CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Grogan Breaks
Down
(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copt/right) MELBOURNE, Feb. 13.
The brilliant Sydney pacer, Grogan, has broken down and will be scratched from the Inter-Dominion Championship, the “Melbourne Herald" reported from Adelaide today. Grogan, which missed his heat on Saturday night because of an attack of colic, was lame in the near foreleg on cooling down after working impressively at Wayville yesterday morning.
Since then his trainerreinsman, B. Stocks, has worked continuously on the leg to get Grogan to the post tonight. But today he conceded Grogan had no chance of running and said: “I will take him out of the Championship altogether.”
