CAR UNDER TRUCK
Dozer Used To Free Driver (NJE. Preu Association) TAURANGA, Feb. 13. A young Hamilton man, Mr R. Larsen, Buffered Mmb injuries wben the light vsn he was driving wea in ooHHon wMh a heavy truck at the corner of Kent street and Cameron road, Tauranga, about 1.30 pm. today. Rescuers had to use a bulldocser to Mft the truck off the overturned van before Mr Larsen could be freed from the crushed wreck. At one stage it was feared that the van might catch alright and the Tauranga Volunteer Fire Brigade was called to the scene. It is believed that the van and the truck, driven by Mr S. P. W. Priest, of CamerOn road, were travelling towards Hamilton when the cbHMon occurred.
Locked together, the vehicles slewed into Kent street, the van overturned and the truck ended on top of it.
Mr Larsen was taken by ambulance to the Tauranga Hospital where his condition this afternoon was described as reasonably satisfactory.
