Bankrupt Not Present “There is a quorum but there is no bankrupt.” said Mr D. Malcolm, agent for the Official Assignee (Mr O. T. Grattan), at a meeting of creditors of William Tonson Robin, a contractor, yesterday. Robin was adjudged bankrupt on January 31. The statement of affairs showed the amount owing to unsecured creditors as £2896 Is 2d, that sum being also shown as Robin’s total debts. There were no assets. An unsigned statement of reasons for Robin’s bankruptcy was read by Mr Malcolm. This gave details of purchases of trucks. “I consider the reason why I got into financial difficulty is that I did not know the heavy truck business and through my dealings in trucks got into my present difficulties.” said the statement. Mr N. G. Hattaway. who repiesented Robin, said his instructions were that Robih was serving a term in a prison in the North Island. The statement of affairs was according to the instructions given him by Robin. The information for the statement of reasons was also given him by Robin, but when it was ready to be signed Robin was in custody, so it was not signed. “I adjourn this meeting sine die and will call another meeting after Robin has been interviewed,” said Mr MalIcolm.
