Hall, put Queensland on top today when, with 1* deliveries, he wrecked South Australia in its vital Sheffield Shield match. South Australia made 270 in the first innings, and trailed by 32 when Queensland answered with 308. The opening batsmen. L. FaveU and J. Liu. gave a total of three catches (all dropped) today off Hall’s bowling before reaching 50 for their opening partnership in South Australia’s second Innings. Then, with 14 deliveries. Hall got Favell. I. McLachlan and his fellow West Indian, G. Sobers, for seven runs.
At stumps, South Australia had 126 for six wickets.
McLachlan, twelfth man for Australia in the fourth test, lasted only one ball. Sobers made eight before edging a catch to slips. Favell made 22. and Hall at stumps had three for 45. Queensland had resumed its first innings today at 208 for four. It passed South Australia's 276 in an exciting 45 minutes dominated by the fast bowling of Sobers, who got three for 80—all leg before wicket.
The test batsman, K. Mackay made 59 in 161 minutes.
