ONE KILLED, TWO HURT
Truck And Car Collide
One person was killed and two were injured when a truck and a car collided at the corner of Terrace and Broad roads, Sefton, ait 11.50 a.m. yesterday. The man killed was:
George Lancaster, aged 64, a farmer, of Terrace road, Sefton.
The driver of the truck. Brian Russell, a farmer, of Kelvin Downs, Ashley road, Amberley, suffered extensive chest and abdominal injuries. He was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, where his condition was reported last evening as fair. Ann Jean Lancaster, aged 68, of Terrace road, Sefton, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital suffering from concussion and laceration to the face. She was a passenger in the car. which was driven by Colin Stewart Lancaster, of tihe same address. Both vehicles were wrecked. The truck, which was carrying a mob of sheep, came to rest on its roof arid the car rolled over and came to rest on its side. The car was rolled back ora to its wheels before the injured could be removed. The injured were attended by Dr. P. Kelleher, of Amberley. and were then taken to hospital by the Rangier® St. John ambulance.
Seme of toe sheep in the truck were killed and maimed, and some escaped and ran off. The maimed sheep were taken to a nearby farm and destroyed.
Each of the Royal Report films shown over Channel HI will be rerun the next day at 5.45 p.m. for the benefit of children. The first of the early evening showings will begin today. Royal Report is normally shown at 9.33 p.m., but it was felt this time would be too late for children to be allowed to watch it.
