Gladiolus Show Awards

(N.Z. Press Association) OAMARU. Feb. 7. The good conditions for gladiolus growing this summer was reflected in the quality of the blooms displayed at the South Island gladiolus show which opened in Oamaru today. A pink-tinted Ethereal, grown by Mrs E. Taylor (Christchurch), took the champion of champions award; W. R. Toon, patron of the Dominion Council, received a North American Gladioli Council merit award for his 12 spikes of any shade. An Ethereal White grown by R. W. Spier* (Oamaru) was judged the best South Island amateur formal bloom, and A. Lowe (Christchurch! won the informal amateur championship.
