STAIN REMOVAL ADVICE

Getting rid of stains is a frequent problem. The Home Science Extension of the University of Otago’s Adult Education Department provides some useful solutions in the revised edition of a 20page booklet, "Stain Removal From Fabrics By Home Methods.”

The text was compiled by Miss Patricia Coleman and revised by Miss E. E. Carpenter. Divided info three sections, the booklet gives detailed information on the main classes of stain remover—absorbents, bleaches and solvents—suggestions for stain treatment and, in alphabetical order, individual methods for removing more than 70 types of household stain. They include coffee, tea, egg, fat and grease marks, ice-cream, inks, mildew, iron rust, grease, paint, perfume, scorching, perspiration, to. bacco, soot and smoke. Not even water spots are omitted
