RELIEF IN SARAWAK

Churches’ Council Sends Funds

Two cabled messages asking for funds to assist 20,000 people left destitute by floods in Sarawak, were received by the National Council of Churches on Thursday. Within half an hour the first sum of £360 was sent.

The first message came from the Malayan Christian Council, and the second from Dr. L. Cooke, director of the inter-church aid division of the World Council of Churches in Geneva, said the Rev. D. M. Taylor, associate general secretary for the council.

The funds which are urgently needed will buy light clothing, blankets and supplies. Mon:y only is wanted.
