WATER SKIERS AT CORSAIR BAY

Board Replies To Complaint

The secretary of the Lyttelton Harbour Board (Mr A. L. Burk), informed the Lyttelton Borough Council on Monday evening that every endeavour was being made to control water skiers at Corsair Bay. The council might appreciate the difficulties of continually policing both north and south shores of the harbour. Mr Burk's letter said. If those making complaints had reported the offences immediately to the harbourmaster, an immediate investigation would have been made with a view to tracing the offenders and instituting proceedings. The letter was received. The annual report of the Lyttelton Public Library, presented to the council, showed the library had a membership of 1221, about 27 per cent, of the population. An average of 171 books had been issued daily and the total number issued over the year was 42.761, the report said. A total of £560 was spent on adding 1101 new books to the library during 1962.

The Canterbury Car Club was granted permission to conduct a hill climb on the Hawkhurst-Selwyn road at Lyttelton, from 11 am. to 4 pm. on February 23.
